Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese word consisting of two characters "Rei" and "Ki". Rei – is Japanese for spiritual or sacred Ki which is known as Energy. The literal translation of the word “Reiki” is Spiritual Energy; Rei represents the Holy Spirit, Mystery, Gift, Nature Spirit or Invisible Spirit. Reiki is a simple, natural and safe method of spiritual healing and self-improvement that can be used to balance the energy centers (chakra’s) in the body while working with other medical or therapeutic techniques to relieve side effects and promote recovery.
The word “chakra” is the sankskrit translation for wheel or disks. Chakra’s are defined as the spiritual center and wheel of energy in the human body. When chakra’s are in balanced, individuals may experience optimal functioning, confidence, and the ability to manage one’s emotions and behaviors. When chakra’s are imbalanced and/or blocked, individuals may experience physical, mental, emotional and/or spiritual manifestations of stress including a decrease in functioning, difficulty connecting to self and intuition, physical illness and emotional instability. Reiki is an ancient, energy & spiritual hands-on healing modality that activates the natural healing abilities within the body.
Purpose:
This training was created to provide professionals with tools and trauma education to help reduce re-victimization of students in both non-clinical and clinical settings. We will discuss the neurological impact of trauma on an individual’s brain, communication skills, and body awareness. The training’s context will provide education to become a trauma-informed facilitator and a more effective leader who can assist students to feel safe in their bodies. It is designed to support professionals who want to expand their current practice by incorporating restorative health techniques such as meditation, breath-work cues, yoga postures (asana), and the use of aromatherapy oils to balance the central nervous system. Participants will gain new insights and skills to assist clients in managing stress and anxiety, and help survivors to show up as their full selves. This training is for individuals currently working with vulnerable populations including but not limited to trauma survivors of any kind. There is also a special consideration for persons interested in supporting clients, family, and community members with reversing the effects of the multi-systemic impact of complex trauma, as well as those who are interested in delving into the ancient practice of Reiki and breath-work to facilitate holistic change and healing.
Specifics:
